Scans

How Scans Work

A scan checks data broker sites to see if your name and address show up.

Here is the order we run things:

  1. DuckDuckGo Pre-Pass. We search DuckDuckGo for your name plus the broker's domain. If nothing comes back, we mark the site Not Found and move on. This saves time and avoids hitting brokers that don't list you.
  2. URL Pattern Check. Many brokers build profile URLs from your name and city (for example, spokeo.com/Jane-Smith/CA/Oakland). We try these URLs directly.
  3. Playwright Render. If the URL pattern check is uncertain, we open the page in a real headless browser. This handles JavaScript-heavy sites and modern bot defenses.
  4. Match. We compare the page contents to your profile (name, city, age range). A strong match becomes Confirmed. A weak signal becomes Possible.

What Each Result Means

  • Confirmed — We are sure your record is on the site. We will start the removal.
  • Possible — There is a probable match but we cannot be 100% sure. You can review it and confirm.
  • Not Found — Your record does not appear on the site as far as we can see.

Scans are not perfect. Some brokers hide records behind a paywall or login. We rescan everything on a schedule.
